This chapter describes the key features of the medical treatment of DSD patients, and begins with the new classification system, and an approach to arriving at a diagnosis. Medical management of the three commonest causes of DSD is discussed, and we include the basic principles of treating gender dysphoria and gender-identity disorder. We conclude with a brief discussion of different approaches in different cultures and societies.
