This article analyses the emotional factor and its connections with cultural heritage. It also considers how this factor is fundamental and sometimes decisive for the didactics and the dissemination of heritage elements. Based on existing heritage models, the weight of aspects like surprise, empathy or identity is studied. We also summarise the latest findings in the field made by our research group. The analysis is based on examples taken from archaeological, artistic and architectonic-monumental heritage.
