Abstract

This time of the year, the Sun moves through Capricornus and Aquarius, on its route to the Vernal Equinox. February is a perfect time to discover the deep-sky treasures of the more southern Milky Way constellations of -winter. After dusk, Sirius shines brightly in the south. It’s the final call to the fascinating destinations of our own galaxy. That’s right, next month, we’ll depart from the Milky Way, but not before we’ve visited the sparkling -clusters within the deepest stretch of our local spiral arm, the Orion Spur {(Fig.} 4.1).
