Abstract

In this work, a new approach for non-invasive monitoring of blood glucose concentration is presented. This approach is based on the adoption of an antenna sensor designed on a textile substrate, thus realizing a wearable sensing device able to assure greater discretion and less discomfort to diabetes patients. The antenna is numerically validated by assuming a stratified medium under test well simulating the human body. As a further enhancement, an accurate dielectric model is adopted for blood, which specifically considers its dispersive behavior in terms of dielectric constant as well as loss tangent factor when changing the glucose concentration. Some preliminary numerical results are discussed to prove the effectiveness of the proposed wearable antenna sensor.
