Based on recent insights in economic geography and economic sociology on industrial relocation/delocalization, upgrading, governance, global value chains and global production networks, this book strives to understand the articulation between changing industrial policies and corporate strategies in China’s apparel industry. Specifically, the central thesis of the research demonstrates the ways in which, as competitive pressures increase, new government policies and emerging firm strategies are restructuring the geography and organization of the Chinese apparel industry.
