Abstract

This review could compare the few existing efforts to prevent risky sex among and by black men with what is needed to ameliorate HIV/AIDS among Blacks. What if the Obama or some future federal administration was willing to suddenly make sufficient funds available to do effective HIV prevention among Blacks? To attempt such an undertaking, we would have to know enough about preventing HIV infections among black men to mount more effective national and local prevention efforts. In effect, does the research literature show that enough field research and program evaluations have been done with sufficient scientific rigor to show the principles of effective prevention of HIV among black men; what actions work in successful prevention program efforts; and what are best practices? Perhaps, the past decades of indifference to HIV among Blacks have also not impacted research. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
