Abstract

In this paper, a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) 10-element linear longitudinal slots array has been designed using genetic algorithm (GA) by optimizing only the interelement spacing to achieve the required gain and side lobe level (SLL). This technique is better differs from the conventional iterative technique in that the individual slot length is not altered. A prototype 10-element linear array with Dolph–Chebyshev distribution has been designed and fabricated. The array has been designed by suitably accounting for the difference between the measured and simulated results. The simulated results for the designed antenna array show good agreement with the experimental results. This array is useful in conformal, low profile applications.
