Abstract

The worldwide markets for Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications over cellular networks are expected to grow for the time being. However, since the M2M communications has the characteristics that are quite different from existing human-centered wireless communications, it poses significant challe. In this paper, we address the challenges in facilitating M2M call admission and scheduling over LTE-A networks and propose a call admission method that improves the call drop probability. Such improment is made possible by adjusting the maximum number of the QoS classes. The simulation results show that the proposed method is superior to other fixed QoS class schemes in terms of the call drop probability. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
