Abstract

Lebanon is one of the countries in the Arab World that developed services of medical genetics relatively early (Der Kaloustian et al. 1980). In this, it followed the developed countries in focusing attention on the chronically handicapped and on conditions such as congenital malformations, mental retardation, and hereditary metabolic disorders.
