Abstract

It has been proposed to replace the cyclic prefix (CP) in OFDM transmission by zero-padding (ZP). ZP-OFDM can be equivalent to redundant linearly precoded CP-OFDM. Based on this equivalent model, a subspace-based channel estimation scheme for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) ZP-OFDM is developed in this paper. Subsequently, pilots are set suitably so that multi-dimension ambiguity is resolved effectively. Simulations verify the channel estimation method and pilots setting scheme. The results demonstrate that the pilots used for resolving ambiguity matrix effect on the estimation scheme evidently. The more pilots, the better performance is gotten. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
