Abstract

Foresters have played central roles in the development of today's remote sensing techniques. They were among the pioneers in research leading to advances in many of the methods and tools used in this field. Since the early 20th century, foresters have been working with remote sensing technology in private industry, universities, and government agencies. Just as important as the techniques themselves is the ability to use them wisely; guidelines are offered to avoid some common pitfalls.
