The project 'Disclosure and Prevention of Sexual Violence Against Male Children and Youth' investigated what might help male victims of sexual violence in childhood and youth to disclose their experiences. In order to find answers to this question, interviews were conducted with male survivors of sexual abuse in childhood and youth as well as with persons who have been involved in processes of disclosure of sexual abuse as professionals or as friends and relatives. Three patterns of disclosure processes could be distinguished and four groups of supportive conditions were reconstructed and discussed with regard to the personal, relational, institutional and societal sphere. This article presents the findings and relates them to the critique of norms of masculinity.
