Abstract

This article intends to summarize how new technology can make litigation processes more efficient in medium and large legal cases. The dynamically increasing volume of electronic information requires fast, efficient and reliable solutions to handle evidential data during litigation. The Electronic Discovery Reference Model defines stages and provides guidelines for both lawyers and legal service providers to collaborate in an eDiscovery project. However, Electronic Discovery and Digital Forensics are relatively new areas in IT. The constant development and need for new solutions are rapidly producing more advanced tools to support parties at each stage of a discovery process. The article provides a general overview of technology use in litigation proceedings following the EDRM structure.
