Abstract

This chapter will outline the policy and practice and infrastructural arrangements for teacher education in this small and contested corner of the United Kingdom, examining briefly how these continue to be influenced by a distinctive range of contextual factors and attempts to review and reform. Finally, it will bring the story up to date in respect of the challenges and potential legacies of expedient modifications of practice in teacher education during the COVID pandemic and cast an eye to the next one hundred years.
