Abstract

Immigrants are vulnerable to exploitation for numerous reasons: their lack of knowledge of the language, culture, resources (financial and family); their need for employment; their necessary reliance upon the representations of numerous officials, salesmen, employers, landlords, employment agents, lawyers, notaries; their distrust of the police and government officials; and their dependence upon their own people and their own banks.
