Conclusion

Abstract

During the last decades, political leadership at the local level has gained more and more interest in the academic and political debate. Benjamin Barber (2013), in his book If Mayors ruled the world, argued that mayors can and do play a major role in solving current societal challenges. For this reason, a book about European mayors cannot be more topical. The different chapters of the book are the best proof of this statement.
