Abstract

Active temporal database system extends temporal database to include active rule system. This system can be efficiently applied to high facility applications such as trend analysis forecasting the fault, financial system, flow control. However this system has to process multidimensional data space that has temporal data dimension, therefore those systems require a high rule processing cost. Improving the performance of rule system depends on the efficiency of condition evaluation methods. Above all, active temporal rule have to consider a temporal dimension of data, because the amount of temporal data will be increased depending on temporal region. Therefore in this paper, we not only consider the condition evaluation of active temporal rule for performance enhancing, but also propose the temporal incremental evaluating operation by difference. © Springer-Verlag 2003.
