The general objective of this research was to improve the management of occupational safety and health to reduce occupational risks in a Peruvian mining company. To achieve this objective, an applied research was carried out with a quantitative approach and descriptive scope. As a sample of the study, 729 tasks were evaluated in the mining company. The initial results determined that the risk levels according to their severity were quantified in 16% as fatal, 63% permanent and 21% temporary. Based on the type of risks, they were accounted for as mechanical 28%, physical 23%, locative 13%, psychosocial 22%, chemical substances 4%, biological and ergonomic 5% and electrical 1%. From the established improvement, it was possible to determine that the fatal risks went from 16% to 0%. In the case of permanent risks, a reduction of 43% was obtained, while temporary risks went from 21% to 83%. In the inferential aspect, the Mann-Whitney statistical test determined a p value equal to 0.000, which validated the statement that a significant reduction in risks was achieved. In this sense, it was possible to conclude that the management of occupational safety and health reduced occupational risks in a Peruvian mining company.
