There are useful guidelines that allow us to identify effective and powerful ways of testing hypotheses. Many of these are informed by an attitude towards hypotheses and theories that views them with caution and skepticism. The community of researchers is constantly striving to make itself aware of which critical strategies are being employed to achieve a rigorous approach to the framing and testing of hypotheses.
