Abstract

The proposed Peace River Site C Project, in north eastern British Cotumbia has a number of possible environmental and socio-economic impacts of potential significance. The Province of British Columbia requires benefit cost analyses for major energy projects, and principles for mitigation and compensation for project impacts has been developed on this basis. A new Energy Project Review Process provides for coordinated review of environmental and technical aspects of energy projects, with Peace Site C expected to be the first major project subject to public hearings under this process. © 1981, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
