Abstract

Entrepreneurs have been aligning their business with some type of charity work for many decades. So, the idea of social entrepreneurship is not a new idea; however, the idea has been expressed differently in the past. Looking at the USA and Nigeria, we begin with taking a look at the makeup of country and then the makeup of the industry of social entrepreneurship. The chapter also takes a close look at several businesses within this industry and on the social needs they are trying to solve within their country and the world. We then develop a SWOT analysis of social entrepreneurship within the USA and Nigeria. In conclusion, the industry of social entrepreneurship is a strong and welcoming industry for new start-ups that are interested in entrepreneurship and making a social impact.
