Towards dexterous manipulation and human-like grasping capabilities, a new phase of robotics hands have been developed recently with biomimeticly oriented functionalities. This manuscript is an attempt to survey in details biomimetic based dexterous robotics hands. In particular, the article focuses on a number of developments that have been taking place over the last two decades, in recent development related to this biomimetic filed of research. © 2012 ICST Institute for Computer Science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
