Abstract

This chapter outlines the theory and practice of agarose gel electrophoresis. The description includes a detailed discussion of all essential factors influencing the optimal separation of DNA bands in agarose gels. Protocols for running standard agarose gels and high resolution agarose gels are given, as well as a method for recovery of DNA fragments from the gel.
