Meningiomas are the most common central nervous system tumor of the cat, with an age at diagnosis of greater than nine years in 73% of the affected animals. Four of seven cats with alpha-L-iduronidase deficient mucopolysaccharidosis 1 had meningiomas at postmortem examination. All four cats were less than three years of age. The relationship between the meningiomas and the metabolic defect of MPS I is not clear. © 1983 by the American Association of Neuropathologists.
