This paper suggests a data collecting scheme for wireless sensor networks with IEEE 802.15.4-LR WPAN protocols. A sink collects data from each sensor node using a guaranteed time slot in tree rooted at the sink node. Using a beacon and tree configuration message, a sink tree is formed and expanded to all sensor nodes that hear the beacon signal. A sharing of guaranteeing time slot by a predetermined sequential superframe and the corresponding channel allocation scheme are also presented. Simulation results show that the proposed sequential channel sharing scheme has good results in end-to-end delay and jitter characteristics in collecting data from many sensor nodes. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media.
