This review summarises the rapidly developing field of transition metal-containing hyperbranched polymers. Two major synthetic pathways for the synthesis of these organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been identified and results from our group together with relevant works of other expert groups on this field are described. Special emphasis has been put on the synthetic aspects but also potential applications have been described where appropriate. © 2008 Springer New York.
