Abstract

The number of organ transplant recipients continues to rise in the United States, with nearly 30,000 organ transplant procedures performed in 2007 and 225,000 organ transplant recipients currently living in the United States.1 While long-term survival after organ transplantation has also increased, with the 3-year survival rate for kidney and heart transplants approaching 90%,2 as many as 70% of organ transplant recipients will ultimately develop skin cancer. © 2010 Springer-Verlag New York.
