Abstract

Injury to the Rectus abdominis as it inserts onto the pubic symphysis is one of the many diagnoses associated with “groin pain” and problems around the hip. Isolating this part of the problems that can contribute to symptoms in this region is often a diagnostic challenge and frequently only part of the management of patients with symptoms in the region. This chapter helps define the clinical, radiological and pathological processes involved in the injury and attempts to define more clearly the anatomy in the region to provide a platform for successful treatment and management of these often complex problems. This will benefit both the clinicians and patients who are face with managing these difficult and often recalcitrant injuries.
