More than 50∈% of the world's human population lives in urban and suburban areas, and over 67∈% of humans will live in cities by 2050. Historically, cities were rarely considered potential wildlife habitat and neglected by wildlife ecologists and managers. Nonetheless, the presence of wildlife has more impact on human health, quality of life, education, and esthetics in urban areas than in any other place. Urban wildlife conservation embraces the concept of wildlife in the urban systems. In this book we showcase the breadth of the expanding field of urban wildlife conservation.
