A new Arctic strategy issued by the Pentagon recognizes the changing state of the Arctic and the need for increased scientific research efforts to better understand the Arctic environment. In addition, the strategy identifies an end goal of securing and stabilizing the Arctic region so that U.S. interests are safeguarded and nations can work cooperatively on issues.
