Abstract

The article focuses on the intervention Zero Tolerance Village Alliance (ZTVA) for addressing sexual and gender-based violence in rural communities in South Africa. Topics discussed include linkages between such violence and HIV infection seropositivity; development of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) outlining the criteria for a village's induction into the ZTVA; and collection of household survey data from women and men through structured questionnaires.
