Abstract

Geospatial data and location-aware services are becoming more common in the last years. Mobile applications make an extensive use of the built-in GPS devices and platforms on the web offer spatial data through APIs and open datasets. This data has the potential to be used to build rich location based services when merged into a uniform dataset. This paper describes the SORELCOM platform, a GPS-based community where users can share trails and points of interest, which is enriched with knowledge obtained from different sources from the web and is able to offer location aware services.
