Abstract

We present a method by which a user can create his 3D avatar using a photograph. To model the face, we use an Active Appearance Model since it provides a reliable and efficient way to model a face including several facial features within it. The user can change the shape of the face as well as facial features interactively. In addition, this avatar is able to express diverse facial expressions. All software components are implemented as an application program running on a smartphone. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
