The article discusses the role of Web 2.0 in social and educational networking in the U.S. and in educators' professional development. It states the transition of the internet from one-way flow of information into a two-way communication through Web 2.0 in which the concept Contributing, Collaborating, Creating (Three C) replaced the so-called Reading, Writing and Arithmetic (Three R). It explains the benefits of educational networks to teachers. Also explored are the features of educational networking used by the LearnCentral network of Elluminate.
