Abstract

Synonyms: Nationally representative data; longitudinal; aging cohort; health; retirement. Definition: Psychologists are discovering opportunities to explore complex questions using large datasets. This chapter describes and illustrates the value of the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), a nationally representative multidisciplinary dataset on aging in the US featuring a rich blend of economic, health (including genetics and biomarkers), cognition, and psychosocial information.
