Abstract

The data derived from a study of geological maps, relief maps and remote sensing have enabled the author to locate and chart over one hundred circular features in the US and Canada. A Diameter versus Cumulative Distribution graph of these features strongly resembles the similarly plotted curves of Lunar and Martian impact craters of the same size range, indicating that these large Earth features may have a similar origin and history. One fifth of the catalogued circular features were found to possess "twins' of identical diameter whose azimuths (of lines between centers) change slightly in a systematic way across the continent. The patterns presented by the "twins' show such conformity that horizontal movement of the upper crust over wide areas may be indicated. Imposition and reimposition of structural controls at depth are inferred. -from Author
