Abstract

Comparative analysis has been given between Chinese and foreign elite female freestyle swimmers in long distance while they performed at the 29th Olympics, the 14th FINA World Championships and the 11th National Games in China. We have analyzed the race component times such as start time, mid-pool (free/clean swimming) time, turn time, final time, stroke length and stroke frequency. The results showed the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese swimmers comparing to their foreign counterparts. It can be applied to modify future training plans of Chinese swimming to improve their poor race components. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
