Abstract

Comprehension of chords and scales are fundamental of jazz music improvisation. Performer can express various improvisations through comprehension of chords, scales, and exercises. This thesis is based on Diminished Scale's structural characteristics. It analyzes each of Whole-Half, Half-Whole Diminished scale in which diatonic basic chords on Major Scale, Major7, Dominant7, Minor7, Minor7b5 that can be used on each chord and Out Line possibility. Furthermore, analysed Triads and 7th Chords perspective of upper structure. This is not only for Diminished Chord, but also including usability four basic chords, Major7, Dominant7, Minor7, Minor7b5. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
