Abstract

Large strato-volcanoes, bold limestone scarps and deeply incised gorges are marked features of the landscape. Slopes are predominantly steep and lead down to rivers that almost always flow as swift, muddy streams. The Purari catchment provides a good example of the geology and landforms of tectonically active areas.-from Author
