Abstract

Spatial data mining is defined as the nontrivial process of extracting the hidden, identifying valid, novel, potentially useful and ultimately understandable patterns or knowledge from spatial databases. The good methods of spatial data mining may get excellent knowledge. This paper presents an overview on the methods of spatial data mining. First, the concept and development of spatial data mining is discussed. Then, this paper describes the characteristics and methods of spatial data mining. Finally, the development trend of spatial data mining was analyzed. © Springer-Verlag 2012.
