Abstract

Here, we will describe a new equivalent flaw s~z~ng method that provides an alternative solution to the zero-of-time problem and extends equivalent sizing methods to a wider range of flaw sizes. Specifically, we consider a time-of-flight equivalent (TOFE) sizing method that can size relatively large flaws by locating the zero-of-time with respect to the transducer and making simple time-of-flight measurements at a number of different transducer locations and orientations. We will demonstrate the performance of the TOFE sizing method on both synthetic and experimental data. TlME-OF-FLlGHT
