Abstract

Marked upregulation of the secreted extracellular matrix-associated protein connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in the glomerulus coincides with the onset of diabetic nephropathy. Recent studies, including the one by Yokoi et al., shed light on the role of CTGF in glomerular injury. © 2007 International Society of Nephrology.
