This article analyzes the implications of the reflections on the identity of metatexts in Chilean literature in the early twentieth century, that is to say, from the vanguard foundation in 1914 until its consolidation in 1938. Among the authors of this period, one of the most relevant literary and cultural tensions observed was the discussion of identity and the different versions that arise from it; also explored is the relationship of cultural translation among interacting literary systems: the European and the Spanish American; the Spanish American and the Chilean; the global and the local.
