Abstract

Book review of 'The Psychiatry of AIDS: A Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment' (see record [rid]2004-17214-000[/rid]). The main thesis of this compact volume is that HIV/AIDS is basically a psychiatric epidemic. Drs. Treisman and Angelino posit that psychiatric disorders lead to increased risk of HIV, as well as worsen the prognosis of the infected individual. The authors, according to Wise, make a strong case for this assertion. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved)
