Raman spectra of a platinum-dispersed carbon (Pt/C) electrode in H 2SO4 aqueous solution were measured at room temperature under constant electrode potential. Raman bands for disordered carbon at around 1360 and 1610 cm-1 were examined in-situ with increasing time and electrode potential. A decrease in the peak intensities of these Raman bands and a peak shift of the 1610 cm-1 band were observed. These changes were probably due to a change in surface structure of carbon via carbon corrosion assisted by a platinum catalyst.
