Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of the major plant DNA sequences and molecular methods available for plant taxonomy. Guidelines are provided for the choice of sequences and methods to be used, based on the DNA compartment (nuclear, chloroplastic, mitochondrial), evolutionary mechanisms, and the level of taxonomic differentiation of the plants under survey. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
