Effect of Addition of Curcuma’s Extract (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) to Artificial Feed on Growth and Survival of Cobia Fish (Rachycentron canadum)

The advantage of kobia is that it grows fast, can adapt to the cultivation environment and contains nutrients especially omega 3, EPA and DHA. In cultivation activities, feed functions as an energy supplier to support growth. The addition of curcuma's extract to feed is an effort to increase feed efficiency. This study aims to examine the effect of adding curcuma's extract and to assess the best dose on the growth and survival of kobia. The results showed that the addition of curcuma's extract had an effect on TKP, growth of biomass weight, growth of body length, SGR, FCR, EPP and PER but had no effect on SR. TKP value, growth of biomass weight, growth of body length, SGR, FCR, EPP and PER the highest in treatment D (15 ml / kg feed) with successive values (893,33 g), (42 g), (10,22 cm), (2,01%/day), (1,27), (79,10%) and (1,65%). While the SR value of each treatment was 100%. The highest nutritional content was found in treatment D (15 ml / kg of feed) with a protein content of 47,45%, 14,23% fat, 1,53% crude fiber, 10,22% ash and 9,37% moisture content. Water quality during the study ranged still in optimal conditions for the growth and survival rate of cobia fish, namely the DO 4,66 mg/l, temperature 28,7-29,1 0 C, salinity 32 ppt and pH 7,69-7,76. Based on the research that has been done, the following conclusions are obtained: The addition of curcuma's extract (C.xanthorrhiza) to kobia fish (R.canadum) feed has a significant effect (P <0,05) on the growth of kobia (R.canadum) but does not affect survival Kobia fish (R.canadum) and the best dose was treatment D with the addition of curcuma's extract (C.xanthorrhiza) as much as 15 ml / kg of feed.
