Abstract

The posterior suturing with postauricular fascial flap otoplasty technique was designed to address the high rate of postauricular suture extrusion and recurrence with the cartilage-sparing techniques. It utilizes conchoscaphoid and conchomastoid suturing with permanent sutures with the addition of a postauricular superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) flap sutured to the helical rim to cover the permanent sutures. The technique is versatile and controls the posterior suturing techniques that are not usually a feature of the anterior scoring otoplasty techniques. The surgical technique is described.
