Summary: The karyosystematic study from various populations of Artemisia herba-alba Asso of presaharian Tunisia allowed to emphasize two cytotypes, one diploid with n = 9 and the other tetraploid with n = 18. The morpho-biologi- cal and ecological caractérisation of the two races emphasize the differences at the level of the geographical distribution, ecological demands, in végétatif vigor and flower morphology. Such differentiation allows us to classify both races as being different taxons. © 1997, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
