Abstract

Cadmium sulphide (CdS) thin films were prepared on glass substrates by chemical bath deposition (CBD) from a bath containing cadmium sulphate, thiourea and ammonium hydroxide. The structural analysis was performed by XRD, AFM and FE-SEM. The deposited CdS thin film was a cubic phase with small nanocrystalline grains. The EDAX analysis showed the Cd to S atomic ratio of 1:0.96. The optical band gap of the CdS thin film deposited at 80°C for 60 min was 2.83 eV.
